I. INTRODUCTION
This chapter deals with those essential principles and procedures of the
general Cambodian legal system that underpin more specialized study of
particular legal topics.
It is necessary to understand where the law comes from and how, where
and by whom it is applied. In relation to domestic sources of law,
attention can be divided between statute law and international treaties
and conventions.
Although most attention tends to be focused on the judges and the courts
in relation to deciding disputes it should not be overlooked that
alternative dispute resolution procedures are increasingly being used as
an alternative to the courts. This is particularly the case with regard
to business transactions. |
